About the speaker:
Mark Biel and his team have been collaring and studying Mountain Goat populations and their movements for several years. The results are in! Join us on a Wednesday evening in August to learn more about this iconic animal, what the goat's stressors are, and what we can do to further protect their declining populations! Mark will speak to the river use study conducted around the Goat Lick and how this area is essential for Mountain Goat protection.

Mark Biel is the Natural Resources Program Manager for Glacier National Park and has been at Glacier for 16 years. He has worked for the National Park Service for over 30 years, beginning as a volunteer in Yellowstone's Bear Management Office and working his way up the organizational ladder. Mark has worked in Yellowstone and Bryce Canyon National Parks, Padre Island National Seashore in Texas, and Devils Tower National Monument in Wyoming.

Mark attended undergraduate at Michigan State University and graduate school at University of Illinois where he received a BS and MS degree in Agriculture and Natural Resources, respectively. He has experience in wildlife management and research activities involving species ranging in size from prairie dogs to bison and many species in between.
