Roadless Rule Information Session – Kalispell

March 4, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Community meeting about how the proposed repeal of the Roadless Rule could impact our shared public lands.

What: Roadless Rule Information Session - Kalispell
When: March 4, 6 - 7:30 p.m.
Where: Flathead Valley Community College Arts and Technology Building, AT-139

The USDA Forest Service is proposing to repeal the Roadless Are Conservation Rule, a 25-year old agency policy that protects over 6 million of acres of treasured national forest backcountry areas in Montana, and another 40 million acres nationwide, from indiscriminate road building and commercial logging. And they’re rushing to do it without hosting a single public meeting.

When the Forest Service created the rule, they hosted over 600 public meetings across the country, including 34 here in Montana.

Montanans deserved to be heard. So Montana's conservation community is hosting a series of community meetings across the state, including in Kalispell.

Please join us to show the Forest Service Montanans want a say in how our public lands are managed. Subject matter experts and public lands users will discuss how the Roadless Rule safeguards wild country, clean water, and fish and wildlife and protects backcountry recreation, while also providing managers flexibility to manage for wildfires and disease. This meeting will help you feel more prepared to engage in the next round of public comment on the proposed rescission of the Roadless Rule, likely to occur in April.
